Jammu Municipal Corporation Launches 75-Ward Fogging Drive to Prevent Mosquito-Borne Diseases

JAMMU, AUGUST 7, 2026 — In a major public health initiative aimed at protecting residents from vector-borne illnesses, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today launched a massive, city-wide anti-mosquito fogging and chemical spraying campaign across all 75 municipal wards. Undertaken on the directions of JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav and supervised by Health Officer Shahid Hussain in close coordination with the State Health Department, the comprehensive drive will run continuously through November 10, 2026. The phased campaign employs a strategic daily schedule to maximize effectiveness, deploying targeted anti-mosquito chemical spraying during early morning hours and executing thermal fogging after 4:00 PM every day to curb adult mosquito populations before peak activity times.

Municipal authorities have issued critical safety guidelines for the public during operations, specifically advising senior citizens and individuals suffering from asthma or respiratory smoke allergies to remain indoors with doors and windows tightly closed until thermal fog has fully dissipated. Alongside the operational measures, Commissioner Devansh Yadav appealed for active public cooperation, stressing that municipal action must be paired with community vigilance to eliminate breeding sites. Residents are urged to routinely inspect and clear standing water from desert coolers, open containers, discarded tires, flowerpots, drains, and rooftops, as stagnant water serves as the primary breeding ground for vectors spreading dengue, chikungunya, and malaria. The JMC confirmed it will execute subsequent rounds of spraying based on local monitoring throughout the three-month drive, emphasizing the campaign slogan: “Stop stagnant water. Stop mosquito breeding. Help keep Jammu safe from mosquito-borne diseases.”
