Jammu and Kashmir Weather Forecast Rain Hailstorm and Heatwave Alert

SRINAGAR, May 26, 2026:- The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather outlook for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a mix of intense heat and upcoming thundershowers over the next fortnight.

For today and tomorrow, the region will experience generally hot and dry conditions, though brief showers might bring slight relief towards late tomorrow afternoon or evening. Residents should prepare for severe heatwave conditions in parts of the Jammu division during this brief dry spell.

A significant change in weather is expected between May 28 and May 29, as skies turn generally cloudy across the union territory. During these two days, scattered to fairly widespread areas are likely to experience spells of rain, thundershowers, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

A brief period of lightning, thunder, and hailstorms is also possible in a few places as early as this afternoon.

Following the wet spell, a long stretch of dry weather will return from May 30 to June 3, with only a small chance of isolated afternoon thundershowers. June 4 will bring briefly cloudy skies and light showers, before a generally dry weather pattern resumes from June 5 to June 7.

Authorities advise residents to take necessary precautions against lightning and sudden gusty winds during the designated alert periods.
