Indian Army transforms marshy land into modern basketball court with eco-friendly tree relocation
KOLKATA — JULY 12, 2026: Under the aegis of the Eastern Command, the 121 Infantry Battalion (TA) Garhwal Rifles has successfully transformed a marshy patch of terrain into a modern basketball court through the sustainable utilization of defense land.
Demonstrating exemplary environmental responsibility during the project, a mature tree on the site was carefully relocated to a new position rather than being cut down, ensuring infrastructure development remained in perfect harmony with nature.
