Indian Army deploys search and rescue teams after Taratala building collapse in Kolkata
KOLKATA, JUNE 24 — Four columns of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command have been swiftly deployed to launch a search and rescue operation in Central Kolkata’s Taratala neighborhood following the sudden collapse of an under-construction godown.
Moving immediately after receiving a distress call from the civil administration, a specialized team of Army rescue personnel, specialist engineers, and medical staff arrived at the site to assist with the ongoing emergency efforts.
Working in close coordination with the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and Kolkata Police, the military personnel are sparing no effort to locate and rescue several individuals believed to be trapped under the heavy concrete debris.
Senior Army officers are currently on the ground coordinating the rescue operations. The Eastern Command has expressed its hopes for the safety and well-being of the trapped citizens, assuring that all possible measures will be taken to save lives.
