Samba police conduct long-range patrol and mock drill for Shri Amarnath Yatra security

SAMBA, JUNE 24 — As part of the elaborate security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra, the Samba Police, in coordination with Central Armed Police Forces, conducted a comprehensive long-range patrolling exercise along National Highway 44 today.

The security personnel also organized a mock drill simulating a terrorist attack scenario at the Nonath Lodgement Centre, which has been established to accommodate the pilgrims.The patrolling exercise commenced from Samba Chowk and concluded at Nonath in Ghagwal, covering a significant stretch of the highway that serves as a vital route for the annual pilgrimage.

Led by senior police officials alongside personnel from allied security agencies, the initiative aimed to ensure area domination, strengthen security preparedness, and maintain a visible presence along the route. Security teams thoroughly inspected strategic locations, lateral points, and other critical areas to familiarize themselves with joint operational procedures and enhance inter-agency coordination.

Furthermore, the mock drill at the lodgement center was designed to evaluate the operational readiness, response mechanisms, and crisis management capabilities of all allied forces in dealing with any contingency during the pilgrimage.

The Senior Superintendent of Police for Samba stated that the department remains fully committed to ensuring foolproof security arrangements. Regular patrols and emergency drills will continue to maintain a high level of vigilance and provide a safe environment for both the pilgrims and the general public.
