Security agencies review preparedness for Shri Amarnath and Kousar Nag Yatras
REASI, June 24: A Subsidiary Multi-Agency Centre meeting was held at the District Police Lines Reasi to review security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Kousar Nag Yatra, and Budda Amarnath Yatra. The meeting was chaired by SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal and attended by senior officers from the Police, Army, CRPF, CISF, BSF, JKAP, and various intelligence agencies, while local station house officers joined the session virtually.
Participating officers briefed the chair on the current security scenario and the measures put in place to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the upcoming pilgrimages. Detailed discussions focused on law and order management, counter-terrorism measures, the surveillance of over-ground workers, and the monitoring of surrendered terrorists and missing youth.
Strategies to prevent radicalization and execute intelligence-led operations were also evaluated.Mukund Tibrewal emphasized the need to strengthen security along pilgrimage routes, vulnerable locations, and vital installations, with a specific focus on the Chenab Bridge, Anji Bridge, and other crucial railway infrastructure. He directed the participating agencies to conduct regular mock drills, intensify area domination near religious and strategic sites, and enhance engagement with residents living in fringe villages.The security agencies were urged to support the training and firing practice of Village Defence Groups in accordance with police headquarters guidelines.
Officials also advised sensitizing personnel to the threats posed by suspicious international calls to ensure no sensitive information is inadvertently disclosed. The meeting stressed the importance of maintaining heightened vigilance, effective inter-agency coordination, and robust intelligence sharing.The SSP directed the verification of CCTV camera functionality and ownership details near security force establishments, while also calling for the increased use of surveillance technologies like drones along the pilgrimage routes.
Reviewing yatra-specific arrangements, he stressed strict adherence to standard operating procedures, regular briefings for deployed personnel, and public awareness campaigns showcasing safety guidelines at key locations.The State Disaster Response Force and other allied agencies were ordered to remain prepared for any monsoon-related emergencies.
Additionally, authorities mandated a thorough character verification of all pony operators and porters from Reasi who are participating in the Amarnath Yatra duties.Tibrewal reiterated that there is no room for complacency, emphasizing that proactive policing, coordinated efforts, and real-time intelligence sharing remain essential for maintaining peace.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all participating security agencies to further strengthen coordination and security preparedness across the entire Reasi district.
