India Cambodia military exercise 2026 strengthens UN peacekeeping ties

New Delhi: 11 May 2026 :- The second edition of the India-Cambodia Bilateral Military Exercise, known as CINBAX-II 2026, is currently underway at the Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre in Kampong Speu Province.

Running from May 4 to May 17, the exercise involves 120 personnel from the Indian Army, primarily from the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, and 160 personnel from the Royal Cambodian Army.

The primary goal of the engagement is to improve coordination, interoperability, and operational synergy between the two nations’ armed forces.The joint training follows the United Nations Mandate under Chapter VII, focusing on planning and executing tactical operations within semi-urban and sub-conventional environments.

Participants are engaging in a mix of command post and field training exercises designed to mirror modern counter-terrorism and peacekeeping demands.

By sharing operational experiences and best practices, both contingents are working toward a unified understanding of tactics and procedures used against hostile forces.Current drills include practical sessions in firing, urban operations, and the use of tactical drones.

Soldiers are also refining skills in sniper training, mortar employment, and combat first aid. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to familiarizing troops with new generation equipment, including unmanned aerial systems, to ensure they can respond effectively to complex security scenarios.

Beyond technical training, CINBAX-II 2026 serves as a symbol of the deepening defense relationship between India and Cambodia. This bilateral initiative aims to foster mutual cooperation and cultural understanding while preparing both armies for regional and global security challenges.

The ongoing collaboration highlights a shared commitment to maintaining international peace and stability within the framework of the United Nations.
