Four Injured, One Critical Following Two-Vehicle Collision Near Bijbehara Airfield

BIJBEHARA, AUGUST 06, 2026 — Four individuals sustained injuries on Thursday following a road accident near the Donipora crossing along the Bijbehara airstrip. The collision involved a Swift Dzire registered under HP37G/0172 and a Tata Mobile utility vehicle bearing registration number JK22B/7482.

According to officials, emergency services responded to the scene shortly after the crash occurred along the stretch near the airfield. The impacted individuals were promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Among the injured is Surinder Kumar, son of Roop Lal Sharma and a resident of Mohali, Chandigarh, whose condition was reported as critical by attending medical personnel.

Another victim was identified as S Chand Munda, a resident of Pahalanpur in Himachal Pradesh. The remaining two injured individuals include an additional passenger and the driver of one of the vehicles involved, with the driver suffering minor injuries. Doctors currently providing care at the facility confirmed that Kumar remains in critical condition, while the others continue to receive necessary medical attention. Local authorities have initiated preliminary proceedings to ascertain the cause of the collision.
