Fire and Fury Corps Commander Reviews Operational Preparedness and Capability Initiatives in Siachen Sector

LEH, AUGUST 06, 2026 — Lieutenant General Madanraj Pande, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Fire and Fury Corps, conducted an extensive operational review of the Siachen Sector to evaluate troop readiness and assess ongoing capability enhancement initiatives across forward locations.

During the high-altitude visit, Lieutenant General Pande received comprehensive briefings from formation commanders regarding current deployment strategies, logistical infrastructure, and defensive preparedness.The Corps Commander personally evaluated operational sustainment systems designed to support troops deployed under extreme environmental conditions, ensuring that frontline units maintain continuous combat readiness along India’s northern frontiers.

Interacting directly with troops stationed across the glacier, Lieutenant General Pande commended the personnel for their exceptional endurance, high morale, and professional execution of duties.Operating at elevations exceeding 18,000 feet, soldiers in the Siachen Glacier contend with severe sub-zero temperatures, avalanche risks, and treacherous terrain while guarding strategically vital positions.

Addressing all ranks during the visit, the Corps Commander emphasized the critical importance of maintaining strict military discipline, mission readiness, and operational excellence.He highlighted that robust logistical backing, continuous training, and adaptive capability enhancements remain fundamental to sustaining long-term operational dominance at the world’s highest battlefield.
