Death Toll Rises to 21 in Tragic Bus Accident in JK’s Udhampur Says Dr Singh

UDHAMPUR, April 20 — A devastating road accident involving a public transport bus occurred earlier today at Kanote village near Kaghote Nalla, in Ramnagar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur resulting in at least 21 fatalities and 61 injuries.

The bus was traveling from Ramnagar to Udhampur when it veered off the road, prompting an immediate large-scale rescue operation.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed the details via a series of updates, noting that he has remained in constant communication with Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, and local administration teams to monitor the situation.

Rescue and evacuation efforts were launched immediately by the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and district administration officials. While most of the injured were transported to Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur for urgent treatment, two individuals in critical condition have been airlifted to GMC Jammu for specialized care.

Dr. Singh expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and assured that all possible assistance is being provided to those affected. Local volunteer teams led by Rajinder Sharma are also on the ground assisting the authorities as medical staff work to stabilize the remaining 59 victims currently hospitalized in Udhampur.
