Chöd Prayer Ceremony Presented by Druk Padma Karpo School

Leh, May 5: A Chöd prayer ceremony was presented by around 100 students of Druk Padma Karpo School, Shey, at Jive-Tsal on the fourth day of the Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Chöd, meaning “cutting through,” is a Vajrayana Buddhist practice rooted in the Perfection of Wisdom tradition, aimed at overcoming ego-clinging and fear through meditation, chant, and ritual music. Traditionally associated with the Tibetan yogini Machig Labdrön, the practice symbolically involves offering one’s body to cultivate compassion and realize the nature of non-self.

The students’ presentation added to the spiritual ambience of the exposition, reflecting both devotional commitment and the preservation of Ladakh’s rich Buddhist heritage.
