Omar Abdullah Directs Rapid Execution of Budget Initiatives for Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, May 05 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat today to review the progress of budget announcements for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
Attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and various cabinet ministers, the session focused on fast-tracking key initiatives to ensure the timely delivery of welfare measures.
Additional Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar provided an overview of the current implementation status across various grants, while administrative secretaries updated the Chief Minister on specific departmental actions taken so far.
The review covered a wide range of sectors, including power development, school education, agriculture production, and public works.
Omar Abdullah issued several directives aimed at improving inter-departmental coordination and eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks that could delay public projects.
He emphasized that budget proposals must be translated into tangible results on the ground, stressing that transparency and efficiency are paramount to achieving the government’s goals for the current financial year.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for equitable development and resource allocation across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
He instructed all departments to maintain strict adherence to project timelines and to monitor progress closely so that the benefits of the budget reach the citizens without delay.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to good governance, with senior officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta in attendance to oversee the implementation strategy.
