Assam Rifles and police recover large cache of weapons in Manipur

IMPHAL, May 13, 2026: In a major setback to insurgent groups, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police Commandos carried out joint operations to dismantle militant hideouts in the Imphal West and Kakching districts. Conducted between May 10 and 11, the successful raids led to the recovery of a massive cache of war-like stores and explosives.

During the operation, security forces apprehended an active member of the banned group KCP Taibanganba, further disrupting insurgent activities in the region.The recovered arsenal included a diverse range of high-grade weaponry such as INSAS rifles, AK-56 rifles, M4 carbines, sniper rifles, and various pistols.

In addition to the firearms, the joint teams seized a significant quantity of bombs, detonators, and live ammunition. Officials stated that these recoveries are vital for maintaining law and order, as Assam Rifles continues its efforts to ensure long-term peace, security, and stability throughout Manipur.
