Assam Rifles and narcotics department seize methamphetamine worth over 3 crore in Mizoram anti drug operation

CHAMPHAI, JULY 7, 2026:- Security forces in Mizoram dealt a major blow to regional drug syndicates after intercepting a significant shipment of synthetic drugs near the international border.

In a coordinated joint operation, Assam Rifles personnel operating under the Spear Corps teamed up with the state Excise and Narcotics Department to execute a targeted search operation in the Zote area of Champhai district. The operation was initiated following precise intelligence inputs regarding the movement of contraband through the border district.

During the extensive search of the designated area, security teams discovered an abandoned motorcycle. A detailed inspection of the vehicle led to the recovery of 1.1 kilograms of Methamphetamine tablets, a high-potency synthetic stimulant. Officials estimated the black market value of the seized narcotics to be approximately ₹3.30 crore.

No arrests were made at the immediate scene as the vehicle had been left deserted, likely by traffickers attempting to evade detection by the advancing security teams.

The Assam Rifles subsequently handed over the recovered drug consignment along with the seized motorcycle to the Excise and Narcotics Department for detailed documentation, tracking, and further legal proceedings.

Officials stated that this successful seizure highlights the ongoing collaborative efforts to dismantle cross-border smuggling networks and reinforce security throughout the Northeast region.
