Shri Amarnath Yatra breaks records as biggest batch of pilgrims leaves Jammu for holy cave shrine
JAMMU, July 7, 2026 — The ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra hit a new milestone on Tuesday as a record 8,815 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, making it the highest single-day turnout for the current pilgrimage season.
Moving under heavy security in a convoy of 363 vehicles, the sixth batch included 31 foreign devotees heading toward the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam.
Official figures show that 3,989 pilgrims left for the Baltal route early in the morning, followed shortly by 4,826 devotees taking the traditional Pahalgam track. The massive group consists of 5,831 men, 2,193 women, 30 children, and over 700 sadhus and sadhvis.
This latest surge brings the momentum of the 57-day annual pilgrimage to an all-time high, with more than 86,000 devotees already visiting the holy cave shrine since the Yatra commenced on July 3.
