Kishtwar Farmers Group Headed to Palampur for Modern Agri-Training
KISHTWAR, JULY 06: In a major push to equip local farmers with modern agricultural technologies and advanced farming practices, the Agriculture Department Kishtwar has launched a seven-day exposure tour and training programme. A batch of 96 farmers from various parts of the district was officially flagged off on Monday by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Vinod Kumar Behnal. This educational initiative, running from July 6 to July 12, 2026, is being conducted at the prestigious CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) ATMA 2026-27. The flag-off ceremony was attended by key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal and Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kushal Chandel.
Key Focus: Bridging the gap between agricultural research and field-level adoption to boost local crop yields and farmer income.
Throughout the week-long programme, the farmers will immerse themselves in scientific agricultural practices, tour university research farms, and interact directly with progressive farmers to exchange innovative ideas. The comprehensive itinerary includes specialized visits to local tea farms and processing units to study value addition, the Hing Research Station to explore high-value crop cultivation, and the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT) for insights into bioresource management. ADDC Behnal emphasized that the practical knowledge gained during this tour will empower farmers to diversify their systems and increase productivity. He also urged them to act as ambassadors by sharing their newfound insights with fellow villagers upon their return. The enthusiastic participants expressed deep gratitude to the department, eager to bring these premier farming techniques back home to transform Kishtwar’s agricultural landscape.
