Omar Abdullah meets mutton dealers to resolve Jammu and Kashmir livestock transit issues

SRINAGAR, July 6 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with a delegation of mutton dealers from Jammu and Kashmir today to address the ongoing difficulties they face while transporting livestock through Punjab, a situation that has severely impacted the local supply.

Minister for Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana and Minister for Transport and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma also attended the meeting to hear the challenges encountered during transit.The delegation detailed their specific grievances and requested immediate government intervention to ensure the unhindered movement of livestock.

The Chief Minister assured the traders that the administration is fully committed to resolving these bottlenecks and safeguarding the interests of traders, transporters, and consumers alike.To achieve a practical resolution, a high-level team of senior officers from Jammu and Kashmir will soon visit Punjab to hold direct discussions with local authorities.

This upcoming visit follows recent communication between Omar Abdullah and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who previously promised to examine the transit issues on priority and facilitate smoother movement for the transporters.
