Four ULFA I Cadres Surrender to Assam Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh

LONGDING, August 08, 2026 – Assam Rifles, operating under the Spear Corps, executed a targeted intelligence-led operation near the Chupkhao Track in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, leading to the surrender of four hardcore ULFA(I) cadres.

The development followed continuous surveillance, tactical planning, and sustained communication efforts by security personnel to encourage the insurgents to lay down arms.Along with their surrender, the cadres handed over four weapons, ammunition, and additional war-like stores to Assam Rifles.

Defense officials noted that the surrender deals a major blow to the operational capabilities and network of the insurgent group in the region. Security forces highlighted that ongoing counter-insurgency initiatives by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles continue to motivate insurgents to abandon violence and reintegrate into mainstream society.
