POONCH, AUGUST 07, 2026 — The Police Martyrs Memorial Volleyball Tournament, organized by District Police Poonch under the Civic Action Programme in collaboration with the Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Club, successfully culminated today at Jallian, Mandi, drawing enthusiastic participation from local youth, sportspersons, and community members. Over the course of the event, a total of 12 teams competed, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship, athletic talent, and team discipline while paying a heartfelt tribute to police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The grand closing ceremony featured the distribution of trophies, mementos, and commendations to the winning and participating teams in recognition of their dedication throughout the competition.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, attended the final day as the chief guest, interacting directly with the players and urging the area’s youth to embrace sports to foster physical fitness, discipline, and leadership qualities while staying away from drugs and social evils. Joined by senior officers including DySP Headquarters Poonch, DySP DAR Poonch, and local station house officers alongside community elders and veteran sportspersons, police leadership reaffirmed their commitment to utilizing youth-focused initiatives to steer young people toward constructive paths and build strong police-public relations.
