Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert Issued Across Region
SRINAGAR, August 08, 2026 – The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a detailed weather forecast and precautionary advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting spells of rain and thundershowers across the region over the coming week.
On August 8, isolated areas can expect light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers, along with brief intense showers in a few places.Weather activity is expected to pick up significantly between August 9 and August 11. Most parts of the region will likely experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers during these days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for several districts in the Jammu division, while select districts in the Kashmir division are expected to witness brief periods of intense heavy downpours.From August 12 through August 17, precipitation levels will moderate, though light rain and thundershowers will remain active at many locations with occasional intense spells.
The weather department has warned that torrential rains between August 9 and August 11 may trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable locations. Residents in low-lying areas have also been advised to remain cautious of potential waterlogging.
