BJP Suspends Nine Anantnag Office Bearers Over Unauthorized Rally and Objectionable Slogans

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 7 — The Bharatiya Janata Party District Unit in Anantnag suspended nine office bearers and stripped them of all party responsibilities following an unauthorized rally in Housing Colony Khanabal. According to an official order issued by District President Rakesh Koul, the rally was organized without approval from the party’s district unit or local administration.

The party leadership also took strong exception to alleged derogatory and objectionable remarks made against women during the event, emphasizing that such behavior directly violates the core values, principles, and discipline of the party.

The disciplinary action was taken after consultations among senior party leaders, including State General Secretary Ashok Koul, State General Secretary Anwar Khan, State Spokesperson and Anantnag Prabhari Altaf Thakur, and the BJP District Core Committee Anantnag. The primary memberships of the nine members—comprising district secretaries, constituency presidents, and morcha leaders—have been suspended pending a detailed inquiry.

Additionally, the district unit clarified that two other individuals mentioned in connection with the event, Alveer Ahmad Dar and Fancy Akhter, hold no organizational posts or official association with the party in Anantnag.
