Food Safety Administration Conducts Special Inspection Drive Across Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 04:- Food Safety and Drugs Administration J&K carried out a major enforcement drive across twelve districts, including Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Anantnag, Kulgam, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipora, and Baramulla, to strengthen food safety surveillance.

The initiative focused on inspecting high-risk items like sweets, meat, and prepared foods to ensure strict compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.During the drive, food safety officers conducted 106 establishment inspections and lifted 152 samples, consisting of 66 sweet samples, 71 prepared food and meat samples, and 15 other commodities.

The collected samples were sent to NABL-accredited laboratories for detailed quality analysis. Authorities directed food business operators to maintain high sanitation standards and hygiene protocols. Following the recent ban on specific affected batches of ghee, tea, and sauce, the administration appealed to the public to report any unsafe or adulterated food items using the toll-free helpline 104 or through official email channels.
