Amritsar Police Bust Twin ISI-Backed Terror Modules; 9 Arrested, Including 4 Juveniles

AMRITSAR, August 04, 2026 — In a major intelligence-led operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled two cross-border, ISI-backed terror modules with the arrest of nine individuals, including four juveniles. Law enforcement officials seized three illegal pistols, four petrol bottle bombs, and nine live cartridges during the operation, disrupting a coordinated attempt to instigate violence and breach public safety in the region.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were operating under the direct instructions of foreign-based Pakistani ISI handlers. These operatives actively recruited local youths to carry out targeted terror acts, execute reconnaissance on key security installations, procure illicit arms, and destabilize local peace. Notably, investigators discovered that the suspects had covertly installed surveillance cameras near critical railway tracks, transmitting live footage to their handlers overseas.

Authorities have registered formal cases (FIRs) across the Mohkampura, Airport, and C-Division police stations in Amritsar. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to identify remaining operatives within the network, map forward and backward operational linkages, track illicit financial flows, and uncover potential ties to prior terror incidents. Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to systematically dismantling cross-border networks to safeguard the state’s security and sovereignty.
