J&K Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall, Flash Flood, and Landslide Alerts Issued Across Jammu Division

SRINAGAR, July 30, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a comprehensive weather update and advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting widespread rain spells and potential high-impact weather events through the first week of August.

On July 30 and 31, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected across most places, primarily during the afternoon, evening, and early morning hours. Few areas in the Jammu division are at risk of brief intense heavy showers or torrential rainfall during this period. After a temporary brief lull on August 1—which will see light rain and brief thundershowers in scattered places—the intensity is expected to pick up again from August 2 to August 4. During these days, multiple spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers will cover many areas, with heavy to torrential rainfall predicted over select districts of the Jammu division. Moving into August 5 through August 7, the region will likely experience light to moderate rain at scattered locations with brief intense showers.

In light of these conditions, weather authorities have issued an urgent advisory highlighting the risk of severe heavy rainfall in vulnerable districts of the Jammu division on July 30–31 and August 2–3. Residents and travelers are urged to exercise caution, as brief intense showers and torrential rains could trigger flash floods and landslides in susceptible areas.
