ARTRAC Army Commander Reviews Operational Readiness and Infrastructure at High Altitude Warfare School in Gulmarg

GULMARG, July 30, 2026 — Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg on July 29. During the visit, the Northern Army Commander was briefed on progressive training methodologies being integrated into the curriculum to keep pace with evolving operational environments and future battlefield challenges.

Expressing satisfaction with the school’s high standards, Lt Gen Sharma reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure development projects and commended the institution for its overall excellence in military training. He also praised the school’s personnel for their swift and safe rescue operations during the recent Gulmarg Gondola crisis and felicitated an instructor for his commendable role during Op MANDU.
