Four  Shri Amarnath ji Pilgrims Injured After SUV Hits Parked Dumper on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR — JULY 18, 2026: Four Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrims sustained injuries early this morning in a road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.

 According to official reports, the incident occurred at approximately 05:10 AM at the busy Sangoor Chowk intersection when a Toyota Innova SUV (bearing registration number JK01AU 7493), which was part of the Baltal Up Yatra Convoy, rammed into a heavy dumper truck (bearing registration number JK20C 1772) from behind. Preliminary official notes indicate that the crash took place when the Innova driver attempted a wrong overtake, resulting in a high-impact collision with the dumper that was stationary in the designated roadside parking lane.

There were a total of seven occupants inside the SUV at the time of the collision, which left the front section of the vehicle severely mangled. Emergency services and Police rushed to the scene immediately following the crash to launch a rescue operation. All the injured individuals were successfully evacuated from the wreckage and shifted to the Associated Hospital at Government Medical College (GMC), Udhampur, for urgent medical attention.

Officials stated that four of the injured pilgrims have been kept under close observation at GMC Udhampur. Udhampur police have formally registered a case regarding the accident, and a detailed investigation is underway to determine all contributing factors behind the highway crash.
