Shri Amarnath Yatra Vehicle Accident: LG Manoj Sinha Assures Best Medical Care for Injured Pilgrims in Udhampur Highway Crash

SRINAGAR — JULY 18, 2026: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep concern over the unfortunate road accident near Jakhani in Udhampur earlier this morning, where a vehicle carrying Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims crashed into a parked truck.

Taking to the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), LG Sinha stated that he has personally spoken with the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur and senior medical officials to closely monitor the health conditions of the victims. According to official updates, the highway crash resulted in injuries to six individuals—specifically five pilgrims hailing from Uttar Pradesh and a local driver from the Ganderbal district—all of whom are currently undergoing intensive treatment at the Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur.

The Lieutenant Governor further confirmed that senior administrative and healthcare officials have been strictly directed to mobilize all necessary assistance and ensure the highest standards of medical care are provided to guarantee a swift recovery for the injured. Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the safety of the ongoing pilgrimage, LG Sinha added that he is praying to Baba Barfani for the security, well-being, and smooth spiritual journey of all visiting devotees.
