Southern Air Command Chief Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann Visits Thanjavur, Flies Su-30 Maritime Mission

THANJAVUR July 16, 2026:- Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, AVSM, VM, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Southern Air Command, concluded a comprehensive two-day operational visit to the Air Force Station Thanjavur today. Upon his arrival on July 15, the Air Marshal was received with a traditional Ceremonial Guard of Honour. Throughout the visit, he was extensively briefed on the base’s ongoing activities and directly reviewed the combat readiness of its key operational units.

In a significant move to bolster joint-service cooperation, the AOC-in-C personally piloted a maritime mission sortie in a Su-30 fighter aircraft. The flight was aimed at enhancing operational synergy and tactical integration with the Indian Navy, underscoring the strategic role of the Thanjavur base in maritime security.

During his interaction with the station’s Air Warriors, Air Marshal Mann emphasized the critical need for realistic training regimes, the meticulous maintenance of all defense assets, and the highly disciplined utilization of resources. Addressing the assembled personnel, he urged them to relentlessly pursue excellence while maintaining the highest benchmarks of safety, discipline, and mission preparedness across the vital Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
