CISF intercepts passenger with undeclared foreign currency at Mumbai Airport

MUMBAI, July 1, 2026:- Vigilant Central Industrial Security Force personnel at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport apprehended a passenger bound for Dubai after discovering a large amount of undeclared foreign currency in his hand baggage.

The detection occurred during a routine security screening of the passenger’s luggage before he could board an Emirates flight.A detailed inspection of the hand baggage led to the recovery of 1,20,000 UAE Dirhams, which is valued at approximately 30.83 lakh rupees. Because the passenger failed to declare the currency as required by aviation transport and customs regulations, the security team seized the money.

The passenger, along with the recovered foreign currency, was subsequently handed over to the Customs and Air Intelligence Unit officials for further investigation and legal action.
