AMRITSAR, June 5, 2026—In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted a cross-border illegal arms, drug, and hawala network, apprehending four accused individuals and detaining two juveniles.

During the operation, security forces recovered 1.035 kilograms of heroin, five sophisticated pistols, two live cartridges, and 5 lakh rupees in drug money. An FIR has been registered at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar as law enforcement continues its firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against organized crime, narcotics, and illegal weapons.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, acting in connivance with foreign-based associates, were allegedly procuring consignments of illegal weapons and narcotics through social media platforms.

These illicit materials were subsequently distributed locally under the explicit directions of their overseas handlers. Notably, one of the arrested accused has been identified as an Afghan national.

Further investigations are currently underway to establish both backward and forward linkages, identify other associates involved in the syndicate, and ascertain further recoveries.
