Mumbai Airport CISF Detects and Seizes Foreign Currency Worth Over 1 Crore
MUMBAI, JUNE 4 — Central Industrial Security Force personnel displayed exceptional vigilance during routine baggage screening at Mumbai Airport today, successfully detecting a suspicious image on the X-ray baggage inspection system.
The alert led to a detailed physical examination of a passenger’s hand baggage, resulting in the recovery of uncleared foreign currency totaling 145,000 US Dollars, which is equivalent to approximately 1.39 crore rupees.
The passenger, a foreign national who was scheduled to travel from Mumbai to Addis Ababa, was intercepted along with the detected currency and promptly handed over to Customs officials for further legal investigation and necessary action.
