Gajraj Corps Honors Late Captain Gautam Sarma with Statue Unveiling in Biswanath Assam

BISWANATH, June 4, 2026 — The Indian Army Gajraj Corps paid tribute to the enduring legacy of the late Captain Gautam Sarma of the 8 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry by supporting the unveiling of his statue in Biswanath, Assam. The memorial ceremony was attended by retired Lieutenant General RP Kalita alongside numerous military veterans, members of the civil administration, ex-servicemen, and local citizens.

The gathering honored the memory of the fallen soldier, reflecting the deep respect and gratitude felt by both the military and the local community.A proud son of Assam, Captain Gautam Sarma made the supreme sacrifice while leading an operational patrol in Jammu and Kashmir in 2007.
