Jalandhar Police bust illegal arms smuggling module and arrest three suspects
JALANDHAR, May 29, 2026 – In a major breakthrough against criminal networks, the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate busted an illegal arms smuggling module and arrested three suspects during a targeted special drive.
Law enforcement officials recovered a significant cache of weapons during the operation, including five .32 bore pistols, nine magazines, and 22 live cartridges.A preliminary investigation revealed that the module was actively involved in smuggling illegal weapons across various districts in Punjab.
Acting on intelligence leads developed after the initial arrests were made near the Jalandhar Bus Stand, police teams conducted follow-up searches and successfully recovered an additional four pistols, eight magazines, and 18 live cartridges that had been concealed near Bhaini Paswal village in the Gurdaspur district.
A comprehensive investigation is currently underway as police work to establish both backward and forward linkages to completely dismantle the entire illegal arms network.
The operation underscores the steadfast commitment of the Punjab Police to its zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms trafficking while ensuring the maintenance of peace and public order throughout the state.
