Rajouri encounter enters sixth day as security forces intensify Operation Sheruwali in dense forests

RAJOURI, May 28, 2026:- The ongoing encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Rajouri district has entered its sixth consecutive day, marking a significant escalation in regional counter-terrorism efforts.

The armed confrontation initially broke out last Saturday following the launch of a targeted, intelligence-based joint operation by security forces in the Dori Maal area of Gambhir Mughalan. The tracking of militant movements led forces deep into the challenging terrain, where the initial contact was established.

According to official sources, heavy shelling and intense firing erupted across the Dorimal forest area as the tactical mission, codenamed Operation Sheruwali, entered a crucial phase.

To ensure a decisive outcome, a massive deployment of security forces, alongside additional reinforcements and specialized logistical support, has been rushed to the active encounter site.

The beefed-up security presence aims to tighten the multi-layered cordon and eliminate any possibility of the trapped militants escaping through the dense, unforgiving forest terrain.
