INS Sagardhwani concludes successful maritime engagement in Malaysia
PORT KLANG, May 16, 2026 :- The Indian Navy’s oceanographic research vessel, INS Sagardhwani, departed Port Klang, Malaysia on May 15, 2026, following a successful engagement with the Royal Malaysian Navy.
The port call facilitated a series of productive professional and scientific exchanges between the two maritime forces. Personnel from both navies shared valuable insights on modern hydrographic practices, marine environmental research, and emerging advancements in oceanographic technologies, further strengthening regional cooperation.
As part of the scheduled program, a delegation from the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Malaysian Navy visited the ship to familiarize themselves with the onboard oceanographic systems. Specialist officers also participated in a Subject Matter Expert Exchange that focused on data-centric maintenance approaches, trend assessment methods, navigation safety tools, and technology-enabled decision-support mechanisms.
During the port visit, the Commanding Officer of INS Sagardhwani met with the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the ship’s ongoing oceanographic mission and opportunities for deeper scientific cooperation.
This deployment highlights the growing maritime relationship between India and Malaysia, reaffirming their shared commitment to regional engagement and knowledge sharing.
