Assam Rifles Seizes Illegal Areca Nuts Worth Over 1 Crore Near Assam Mizoram Border
SRIKONA, MAY 12, 2026:- Assam Rifles, operating under the aegis of Spear Corps, successfully intercepted a major smuggling attempt near Srikona along the Assam-Mizoram border.
During the targeted operation, security forces recovered 501 bags of illegal areca nuts weighing approximately 13,000 kilograms.
The market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be over 1.15 crore rupees. In addition to the recovery of the goods, five individuals were apprehended at the scene for their involvement in the illegal trade.
This successful operation highlights the continuous efforts of the Assam Rifles to curb smuggling activities and maintain regional security along the sensitive border areas.
