Young boy killed and three injured in Anantnag Darul Uloom fire

ANANTNAG, May 12, 2026 — A tragic fire at a religious school in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy and left three other students injured on Tuesday.

The massive blaze broke out at the Faizan Baba Hyder Rishi Darul Uloom located in the Old Mattan Adda area, prompting an immediate emergency rescue operation by local officials and residents.

Four young boys sustained burn injuries during the incident and were quickly evacuated to Government Medical College Anantnag for urgent treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, one of the victims, identified as Bilal Ahmad from Wadwan, succumbed to his injuries.

The other three injured students, identified as Sabit Fayaz, Sahil Ahmad, and Irfan Ahmad, remain under medical care.Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire to determine how the flames ignited within the educational facility.

Police have officially taken cognizance of the incident as the local community mourns the loss of the young student.
