Srinagar: 11 May 2026 :- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performed Puja during the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, a ceremony marking a millennium of unbroken faith and unyielding resolve.
Speaking at a public event organized at Lok Bhavan, Sinha highlighted that despite numerous atrocities and invasions, Somnath has remained a guiding light leading India toward new horizons.
He expressed confidence that the blessings of this sacred center would continue to inspire the nation to move forward with renewed determination, noting that the temple has consistently awakened new possibilities and laid the foundation for a modern India.
Describing Somnath as a celebration of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, Sinha emphasized that the temple embodies the divinity of the land and remains inseparable from the soul of every Indian. He remarked that Somnath represents dedication, devotion, and the eternal search for truth, standing as a testament to the nation’s strength and pride.

Sinha paid tribute to historical figures and great souls who defended the temple from invaders, including Bhim Dev, Jayapal, Anandpal, and Maharaja Dharsen. He also offered homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for directing the reconstruction of the temple following India’s independence in 1947, and remembered the consecration ceremony performed by President Rajendra Prasad on May 11, 1951.
He stated that the rebuilding of the temple serves as a symbol of inner victory and a lamp of resolve that has burned for millennia, acting as a vital beacon for society.
The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and DGP Nalin Prabhat. Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, and Principal Secretary Culture Brij Mohan Sharma were also present along with various administrative secretaries and prominent citizens.
