IAF Marks Op Sindoor Anniversary with 88-Hour Commemorative Relay Run in Delhi
NEW DELHI | 11 MAY 2026 :- The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully concluded the “Op Sindoor Commemorative Run,” a grueling 88-hour continuous relay held from May 7 to May 10, 2026, to honor the first anniversary of its landmark air operations. The event, which celebrated the IAF’s ability to execute precise and decisive strikes, saw the participation of 600 runners drawn from all Air Force Commands, the Indian Army, and enthusiastic civilian volunteers. Flagged off at the iconic India Gate by the Air Officer in Charge Administration (AOA) and culminating in a grand flag-in ceremony by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) at Air Force Station New Delhi, the run served as both a tribute to military excellence and a powerful tool for public outreach.
The relay route was a symbolic journey through the heart of the capital, with participants passing historic landmarks including Vayu Bhawan, Nehru Park, and Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg. Beyond the physical challenge, the event aimed to foster a deep sense of esprit de corps among defense personnel while showcasing the Indian Defence Forces’ operational history to the public. The commemoration was further enriched by a live performance from the Indian Air Force Jazz Band at Nehru Park, adding a cultural dimension to the weekend’s activities. Supported heavily by civil authorities, the run stands as a testament to the seamless teamwork between the military and the community, reinforcing the professional ethos of the Indian Air Force.
