Shopian drug control officials seize 6000 pregabalin capsules in major crackdown

SHOPIAN, May 08 — Building on leads from a recent operation in Batpora, the Drug Control Departments of Shopian and Pulwama conducted a successful joint raid to intercept a massive shipment of illegal pharmaceuticals.

Authorities seized 6,000 capsules of Pregabalin 300 mg, valued at approximately 2,53,000. The consignment was being moved through illegal channels intended for unlawful sale and distribution across the district, prompting a swift response from enforcement teams and local police.

The operation was the result of coordinated surveillance and specific intelligence developed by the Drug Control Office in Shopian. By closely tracking the movement of the suspected shipment, officials were able to stop the individuals involved and prevent the drugs from entering the local market.

This crackdown highlights the intensified efforts by regional authorities to combat the rising misuse of habit-forming medications, which has become a significant public health concern.

Officials have confirmed that monitoring of pharmaceutical supply chains will remain strict to prevent the diversion of prescription drugs for substance abuse. The administration remains focused on protecting the youth from the dangers of drug addiction through continuous enforcement drives.

Citizens are encouraged to assist these efforts by reporting any suspicious trade activities to ensure timely intervention against illegal drug distribution networks.
