NEW DELHI, May 05 — The Ministry of Defence has finalized a contract worth 1,476 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited in Hyderabad for the procurement of five ground-based mobile electronic systems for the Indian Army. The agreement was signed at Kartavya Bhawan-2 in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. Categorized under the Buy Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed, and Manufactured initiative, the project emphasizes domestic production with a minimum of 72 percent indigenous content.

This procurement is expected to significantly modernize Indian Army units while strengthening the domestic defense manufacturing infrastructure.

By prioritizing locally developed technology, the contract supports the government’s commitment to self-reliance and the Make-in-India campaign within the defense sector.

The high level of indigenous components involved reflects a strategic move to reduce dependency on foreign imports and foster innovation within the national defense industry.
