DIG North Kashmir Range reviews security and crime situation in Sopore
SOPORE, MAY 4: Deputy Inspector General of Police for North Kashmir Range Baramulla, Vinod Kumar, conducted an extensive visit to the Sopore Police District today to chair a high-level security and crime review meeting.
This visit marked the first field assessment by the DIG since taking charge of the North Kashmir Range. The meeting was attended by SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib, along with additional superintendents, tactical officers, and station house officers, focusing on a comprehensive evaluation of the current security grid and operational readiness in the region.
During the session, the DIG reviewed the progress of investigations into major criminal cases, with a particular emphasis on those registered under the NDPS Act. He issued specific directives to the officers to ensure high-quality investigations, timely filing of charge sheets, and robust prosecution to ensure legal accountability.
Highlighting the importance of proactive policing, the DIG stressed the need for enhanced intelligence gathering and seamless coordination among various units to effectively counter emerging security challenges and maintain public order.
In line with regional priorities, the DIG instructed officers to intensify enforcement actions under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan to eliminate the drug menace from the district. He also underscored the significance of community-oriented policing, urging the force to strengthen public engagement to foster confidence and stability.
The meeting concluded with a call for sustained vigilance and dedicated efforts to uphold peace and ensure the safety of the citizens across Sopore.
