Srinagar MLAs meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to thank him for Darbar Move resumption

SRINAGAR, MAY 4: A delegation of Members of the Legislative Assembly from Srinagar city met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat today to express their appreciation for the restoration of the traditional Darbar Move.

The group, which included legislators Mubarak Gul, Shamim Firdous, Salman Sagar, Tanvir Sadiq, Ahsan Ahmed Pardesi, and Mushtaq Guru, was joined by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani.

The MLAs highlighted the significance of returning to the administrative tradition, which saw offices reopen in Srinagar following the winter session in Jammu, ending a hiatus of several years.

The legislators emphasized that the revival of the Darbar Move is a welcome step for both administrative continuity and the local economy.

They noted that the practice is expected to significantly boost market vibrancy and provide a much-needed stimulus to the hospitality sector in the Kashmir valley.

By bringing government operations back to the summer capital, the MLAs believe the move will foster better public engagement and enhance commercial activity across the region.

The meeting concluded with the representatives reaffirming their support for initiatives that strengthen the cultural and economic ties between the two divisions of Jammu and Kashmir.
