Anti Corruption Bureau files charge sheet against Srinagar Municipal officials in building violation case

SRINAGAR, MAY 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau has presented a charge sheet against 11 individuals, including four officials from the Srinagar Municipal Committee and seven beneficiaries, regarding significant building permission violations.

The case, filed before the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti Corruption Srinagar, involves allegations of illegal construction of six structures across several prominent locations, including Jawahar Nagar, Gonikhan, Hari Singh High Street, and Wazir Bagh.

Investigations revealed that these structures were erected without valid permissions through a conspiracy between the accused government functionaries and private individuals.The investigation conducted by the Anti Corruption Bureau Srinagar utilized oral and documentary evidence to substantiate charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy.

Following the receipt of necessary prosecution sanctions from the government, the bureau moved forward with the formal charge sheet to seek judicial determination.

The evidence collected during the probe confirmed that the accused officials facilitated the illegal constructions in direct violation of established norms. The court has scheduled the next hearing for the matter on June 16, 2026.
