Mobile Connectivity Restored in Remote Manipur Villages Following OFC Repairs
UKHRUL, May 3, 2026 — The Red Shield Division, operating under the Spear Corps, successfully restored vital mobile connectivity in the Ukhrul District of Manipur by repairing damaged Optical Fiber Cable infrastructure at Senaikethai. Working in close coordination with local telecom operators, the technical teams managed to overcome persistent security concerns and adverse weather conditions to complete the repairs on May 1.
This intervention has re-established communication links for approximately 70 villages that had been cut off from mobile networks.The restoration of the fiber network is expected to significantly improve daily life and administrative efficiency in the region.
By reconnecting these remote communities, the initiative enhances local emergency response capabilities and allows residents to access essential digital services.
