Kulgam Police Attach Assets Worth Over 92 Lakh in Major Drug Bust

KULGAM, May 2, 2026—Kulgam Police have successfully dismantled an inter-state narcotics network, leading to the attachment of illegally acquired property valued at ₹92.73 lakh in the Beli Charana area of Jammu.

The crackdown is linked to an ongoing investigation that began in March 2026 following the arrest of a Srinagar resident, Mohammad Rafiq Mir, who was found in possession of heroin near the Qazigund Railway Station.

During the initial phase of the inquiry, authorities registered a case under the NDPS Act to trace the origins of the contraband. The investigation intensified after Mir disclosed that the drugs were sourced from Bagh Hussain Kasana, a resident of Jammu.

Following a targeted raid at Kasana’s residence, police recovered an additional 265 grams of a heroin-like substance. Kasana was subsequently arrested and is currently being held at the District Jail in Anantnag.

Authorities established that the accused had been operating an extensive trafficking ring, supplying narcotics across the Kashmir Valley without any legitimate source of income to account for his wealth.

A financial probe conducted by the investigating team identified specific immovable assets purchased with the proceeds of the drug trade. These attached properties include land valued at approximately ₹71.52 lakh and a residential structure worth around ₹21.21 lakh.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, stated that the department remains fully committed to dismantling these criminal networks and urged the public to assist in the fight against drugs.

He emphasized that strict legal action will continue as part of a broader effort to ensure a drug-free society.
