Gujarat and Maharashtra Foundation Day celebrated at Jammu Lok Bhavan

JAMMU, MAY 01, 2026:-The Foundation Day of Gujarat and Maharashtra was celebrated with high spirits at J&K Lok Bhavan in Jammu, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha honored the two states as the primary growth engines of India.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that beyond their massive contributions to the national GDP and exports, both states possess unparalleled social, cultural, and spiritual legacies.

He described Gujarat as a land that nurtures an innate entrepreneurial spirit and warmth, while praising Maharashtra for its global reputation in enterprise, valor, and spiritual genius.

He noted that the history of these states is adorned with iconic figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak, whose lives continue to inspire national unity and selfless service.

The Lieutenant Governor observed that the vision of a unified India is deeply rooted in the ideals of Sardar Patel, whose commitment to unity amidst diversity remains the nation’s greatest achievement.

He further noted that the spiritual traditions of India were revitalized by figures like Ahilyabai Holkar, whose devotion is remembered across sacred pilgrimages.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Lieutenant Governor stated that India has found a renewed sense of confidence and dignity. He credited the Prime Minister’s guidance over the past 12 years with transforming national resolve into tangible progress, reshaping the landscape of development while fostering a shared vision for a developed India by 2047.

Reflecting on recent milestones, the Lieutenant Governor remarked that the Indian diaspora now radiates pride due to the restoration of the nation’s timeless prestige on the global stage.

He emphasized that the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, fulfilled the unfinished dream of Sardar Patel and significantly strengthened the foundation of the Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat initiative.

By uniting all sections of society under a common goal of progress and self-respect, the administration continues to draw strength from the rich traditions and heritage of states like Gujarat and Maharashtra to propel the country’s development trajectory forward.
