SINGAPORE, April 28, 2026 — Marking a significant milestone in India’s maritime diplomacy, the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR, INS Sunayna, arrived at the Changi Naval Base in Singapore on April 26, 2026. This visit represents the fourth port call of its current deployment under the MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) initiative. Carrying a diverse multinational crew from 16 Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), the vessel has already completed successful visits to Malé, Phuket, and Jakarta. The warm reception in Singapore, highlighted by an onboard visit from High Commissioner Dr. Shilpak Ambule, reaffirms the robust maritime partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to the SAGAR vision of security and growth for all in the region.
During the stay, the crew engaged in high-level professional exchanges and community outreach aimed at fostering regional unity. Commanding Officer Siddharth Chaudhary honored fallen heroes at the Kranji War Memorial and held strategic discussions with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) leadership to explore enhanced cooperation. The visit also featured a “One Ocean, One Mission” themed run with the Indian diaspora and guided tours for local schoolchildren and influencers to showcase life at sea. Before its scheduled departure on April 29, 2026, the crew will participate in professional simulations, joint Yoga sessions, and interactions with maritime think tanks, ensuring that the mission continues to serve as a beacon of collective security and interoperability in the Indian Ocean Region.
