Operation Sindoor: Rajnath Singh Signals End of Immunity for Terror Epicentres at SCO Meet
BISHKEK, April 28, 2026 — Addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Kyrgyzstan today, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh asserted that Operation Sindoor has cemented India’s resolve that terrorism epicentres are no longer immune to justifiable punishment. Calling for a unified global front, Singh urged member nations to eliminate safe havens and reject political exceptions when dealing with the “evils” of terrorism, separatism, and extremism. He emphasized that state-sponsored cross-border terrorism remains a direct attack on national sovereignty, insisting there is no room for double standards or hesitation in taking action against those who abet or shelter terrorists.
Reinforcing India’s “zero-tolerance” policy, the Raksha Mantri noted that terrorism possesses neither nationality nor theology and requires a firm, collective stance to transform regional security into a foundation for peace. He lauded the role of the SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and recalled the Tianjin Declaration as a testament to India’s commitment to countering radicalization. Highlighting the 25th anniversary of the SCO, Singh advocated for a rule-based world order rooted in the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, where co-existence and compassion take precedence over conflict. He concluded by urging the SCO to lead through dialogue and diplomacy, ensuring the organization remains a beacon of stability in an increasingly fractured global landscape.
