Reasi Police arrest two for stealing from Vaishno Devi pilgrims
Reasi, June 23: Reasi Police promptly solved a theft case reported by a Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrim, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of stolen property. The incident came to light on June 21, 2026, when Akash Mishra, a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, filed a complaint at the Katra Police Station.
He reported that his family had stopped to rest at Charan Paduka during their pilgrimage, and upon waking up, discovered that a bag containing cash and two mobile phones was missing.Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an immediate investigation.
Utilizing a combination of technical analysis and local human intelligence, the police team successfully identified and apprehended the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karmat Ali and Ajay Singh, both residents of the Reasi district.
During the investigation and subsequent search, officers recovered the stolen mobile phones, valued at approximately 30,000 rupees, along with 600 rupees in cash. The recovered items have been taken into custody and will be returned to the rightful owner after the completion of legal formalities.
The district police have advised all pilgrims to remain vigilant and look after their personal belongings during the journey, encouraging citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police post.
